Irawati Karve was a pioneering Indian sociologist, anthropologist, educationist and writer from Maharashtra, India. She was one of the students of G.S. Ghurye, founder of Indian Sociology & Sociology in India. She has been claimed to be the first female Indian Sociologist.
ఇరావతీ కర్వే (డిసెంబరు 15, 1905 – ఆగష్టు 11, 1970) భారత దేశానికి చెందిన ఆంథ్రాపాలజిష్టు. ఈమె విద్యావేత్త, రచయిత. ఈమె భారత దేశంలో మహారాష్ట్రకు చెందినవారు. ఈమె బర్మా దేశానికి చెందిన ఇంజనీరు జి.హెచ్.కర్మాకర్ కు జన్మించారు. ఈమెకు బర్మాకు చెందిన పవిత్ర నది "ఇరావతీ" పేరు పెట్టారు. ఈమె భారతదేశంలోని పూనాలో పెరిగారు.
